# Enable AdDeflect

> How to turn on AdDeflect for a GoGuardian DNS network to block ads and pop-ups for every device on that network.

AdDeflect is an optional add-on for GoGuardian DNS that blocks ads and pop-up ads across websites and YouTube for every device on a filtered network. Enabling AdDeflect reduces distractions and limits ad-based tracking for students.

When AdDeflect is active, blocked ads are replaced with a gray overlay labeled "Advertisement" rather than disappearing entirely.

  AdDeflect is a premium add-on. Contact your GoGuardian account representative to confirm it is enabled for your account before following these steps.

## Enable AdDeflect for a Network

1. Go to [GoGuardian Admin](https://admin.goguardian.com) and select **Filtering** → **DNS Networks**. {/* TECH-ACCURACY: Verify current nav path */}

2. Click the pencil icon next to the network where you want to enable AdDeflect.

3. Find the **AdDeflect** toggle in the network settings and turn it on.

4. Save your changes.

5. Verify the result: AdDeflect is active for all devices on that network. Ads from tracked ad hosts appear as gray "Advertisement" placeholders.

  AdDeflect blocks ads based on a dataset of known ad-serving hosts. Pop-up ads from hosts not in the dataset may not be blocked. Ad coverage may vary by website.
