# Add Students to Existing Assessments

> Add individual students to an in-progress or not-yet-opened assessment from Live Class Board when a student joins after the assessment was assigned.

In **Live Class Board**, teachers can add students to an existing assessment. To add a student to an assessment, the assessment should be assigned to the entire class and must be in the Not Open or In Progress statuses.

## Add Students to Existing Assessments in Pear Assessment

In **Live Class Board**, teachers can add students to an existing assessment, such as when a student joins a class after an assessment has been assigned. Please note that when new students are added to a class that already has assessments in an active state (i.e., Not Open or In Progress statuses), they are automatically added to the assessment.

To add a student to an assessment, the following conditions must be true:

* Assessments should be assigned to the entire class
* The assessment assigned to the class must be in the Not Open or In Progress statuses. Students are not automatically added for assessments in the In-Grading or Done statuses

## Add Students

1. Click **Assignments** in the navigation menu.
2. Click on an assessment's name.
3. Click **More** > **Add Students**.
4. Select the student in the class who does not have the assessment assigned.
5. Select the time and date when the assessment closes.
6. Click **Add**.
