# Audio Response Item Type

> Enable the audio response item type at the district level so students can record oral answers and teachers can listen and evaluate responses.

For Enterprise users, this item type is available that allows students to record their oral answers and allows teachers to listen and evaluate. This audio response is a new item type in Pear Assessment is an excellent tool for English as a Second Language, foreign language, and K-2 classrooms. By default, this option will be disabled for districts, and district admins will need to enable this in their district settings.

## Audio Response Item Type in Pear Assessment

For Enterprise users, the audio response item allows students to record their oral answers and allows teachers to listen and evaluate. This audio response is a new item type in Pear Assessment and is an excellent tool for English as a Second Language, foreign language, and K-2 classrooms. By default, this option will be disabled for districts, and district admins will need to enable this in their district settings.

## Enable the Audio Response Item Type

1. Click **Manage District** in the navigation menu.
2. Click **Settings**.
3. Click **Test Settings**.
4. Select **Yes** for **Enable Audio Response Question Type**.
5. Click **Save**.

### Teacher View

1. Click **Item Bank** in the navigation menu.
2. Click **New Item**.
3. Click **Written & Recorded**.
4. Click **Audio Response**.
