# Create Interventions from Data Studio Reports

> Use Goals and Interventions in Data Studio to define proficiency targets, assign practice sets to students who need support, and track progress over time.

The Goals and Interventions report lets district administrators define a proficiency goal, identify which students do not currently meet it, and assign a Pear Practice practice set to support those students. Use this workflow when you want to connect a district data goal to classroom practice.

## Before You Start

* You must have a district administrator role and the Data Operations permission in Pear Assessment.
* The goal requires at least 1 Pear Assessment result in Data Studio to identify students.
* To assign a practice set as part of the intervention, a Pear Practice practice set must already exist in your district library.

## Create a Goal

1. In Pear Assessment, go to **Data Studio** and open **Goals and Interventions**.
2. Click **Create Goal**.
3. Name the goal. Use a name that identifies the standard, grade, or group (for example, "Grade 4 Math — CCSS.MATH.4.NF by March 2026").
4. Set the proficiency threshold: the percentage or score students must reach to meet the goal.
5. Set the goal date: the date by which students should meet the threshold.
6. Select the assessments that measure progress toward the goal.
7. Click **Save Goal**.

After saving, the report shows which students currently meet the goal and which do not, based on their most recent results on the selected assessments.

## Create an Intervention

An intervention links a goal to a specific practice assignment for students who are not yet meeting the threshold.

1. From the goal view, click **Add Intervention**.
2. Select the students who should receive the intervention. You can select all students below the threshold or choose specific students.
3. Choose a Pear Practice practice set from your district library.
4. Set a due date for the practice set.
5. Click **Assign**.

The selected students receive the Pear Practice assignment. Completion data appears in the intervention view as students work through the practice set.

<Note>
  If the practice set includes content that is set to Always Hidden (restricted content), student names may be masked when viewing the intervention results. This is expected behavior for restricted content in Pear Assessment. Contact Pear Deck Learning support if you need to adjust content visibility settings.
</Note>

## Track Progress

After creating a goal and assigning an intervention:

1. Open **Goals and Interventions** and select the goal.
2. The student list updates as new assessment results come in. Students who cross the proficiency threshold are marked as meeting the goal.
3. The intervention panel shows practice set completion rates alongside current assessment scores.

To see whether the intervention is working, compare each student's assessment scores before and after the intervention start date using the **Performance Trends** report.

## Update or Close a Goal

To change a goal's threshold or date:

1. Open the goal and click **Edit Goal**.
2. Update the threshold or date and click **Save**.

To close a goal at the end of a school year:

1. Open the goal and click **Archive**.

Archived goals remain visible in read-only mode for historical reference.
