# Create Passage-Based Questions

> Build assessment items that pair a text passage, video, or diagram with multiple related questions using the Item Bank passage workflow.

Passage-based questions in Pear Assessment can be used for all subjects that ask students to evaluate and respond to a stimulus (e.g., text, video, diagram, etc.). Please set it up in Item Bank > New Item > Passage > Passage with Questions.

Passage-based questions in Pear Assessment can be used for all subjects that ask students to evaluate and respond to a stimulus (e.g., text, video, diagram, etc.).

## Create Passage-Based Questions

1. Click **Item Bank** in the navigation menu.
2. Click **New Item**.
3. Click **Passage**.
4. Click **Passage with Questions**.
5. Click **Add Video** or **Add Passage** under **Edit Mode**.
6. Fill out the required information for either option and click **Save**.
7. Repeat step 5 to add more videos and passages (if applicable).
8. Click **Add First Part To This Item** to add questions and resources.
9. Click **Publish** once you have added all of the items you need.
10. Once you have built the passage-based question, you can manipulate the item order, point value, add or remove items, etc. on the **Review**.

Note: You are not able to add pre-built questions to a passage from the Review screen. To add more questions, click on the passage title and add new questions from scratch.
