## Integrate Canvas with Pear Assessment

Pear Assessment supports an integration with Canvas, which can be configured in your District Settings. You will need a Pear Assessment District Admin account to complete the Canvas integration.

## Enable Canvas Integration

1. Sign in to Pear Assessment with an administrator account.
2. Click **Manage District**.
3. Click **Settings**.
4. Click **District Policies**.
5. Under **Domains** > **3rd Party Integrations**, click the radio button for Canvas.
6. Click **View Configuration** to open your Canvas integration settings in a new tab.
7. Keep the tab with the screen below open, then go to your Canvas instance in a new tab.

## Create a Developer Key

To perform this step, the Canvas Administrator from your school or district creates a developer key to integrate Pear Assessment with Canvas. Use the following steps to obtain the developer key:

1. Sign in as admin to your school or district Canvas instance.
2. Click on **Admin** and click on the instance defined in **Managed Accounts**. Select **Developer Keys** from the menu. Click on the **+ Developer Key** button and select **Create an API Key**.
3. Create a key using the following values:
   * **Key Name**: e.g. Pear Assessment (This will be visible as link to users)
   * **Owner email**: canvas admin's email id
   * **Redirect URLs**: [https://app.edulastic.com/](https://app.edulastic.com/)
4. Obtain your Instance URL, client ID and Developer Key for the Pear Assessment integration.

Please ensure the state of the developer key is set to "On":

1. As a Canvas admin, navigate to the root account.
2. Select the **Developer Keys** menu.
3. Select the **Account** tab and ensure Pear Assessment is set to On.

Sometimes it may be necessary to click **Inherited** and turn the key to On.

   * **Instance URL**: Your Canvas Instance URL
   * **Client ID**: Generated from Canvas
   * **Secret Key**: The key generated from the Client ID in Canvas
2. Click **Test Connection** to verify the keys communicate with your Canvas environment.

4. When the test is successful, click **Next** to view the unique Consumer Key and Shared Secret (Secret Key) assigned to your account.
5. Keep your Pear Assessment tab open and go back to the tab with your Canvas instance for the next steps.
