# KDS Item Replacement

> Replace KDS items on existing tests with equivalent items from other accessible item banks as the KDS partnership ends.

With the KDS partnership ending with Pear Assessment, authors will now have the option to replace the KDS items on tests with an equivalent item from other item banks that the user has access to as a way to transition smoothly.

## KDS Item Replacement in Pear Assessment

Authors can replace KDS items on tests with an equivalent item from other item banks that the user can access.

## Item Suggestion to Replace KDS Items

1. All KDS customers will see a **Replace** button next to KDS items in a test's **Review** tab.
2. Click **Replace** to take the user to a screen with new equivalent items to select.
3. If no item is found, the user will be taken to the **Add Items** tab where a new item can be searched and added.
4. This replacement of items will skip the regrade flow and replacing the items will create a new test version but it will not regrade old assignments.
