# Secure Assessments with IP Gating

> Restrict password-protected assessments to authorized locations by configuring allowed IP addresses or ranges in District Policies.

In Pear Assessment, password-protected assessments for a proctored classroom environment can be secured with IP address gating. Get started in **Manage District** > **Settings** > **District Policies** > **Allow IP for Password Controlled Assessments**.

## Secure Assessments with IP Gating in Pear Assessment

In Pear Assessment, formal assessments for a proctored classroom environment can be secured with IP address gating. The gating ensures that students can only take an assessment from authorized locations and applies only to assessments with passwords.

## Set IP Address or Range

1. Sign in as an administrator.
2. Click **Manage District** in the navigation menu.
3. Click **Settings** > **District Policies**.
4. Enter an IP address, range, or wildcard under **Allowed IP for Password Controlled Assessments**. Please separate addresses with commas.
5. Click **Save**.
