# Set Up Anti-Cheating Settings
> Configure anti-cheating settings in Pear Assessment to promote fairness and maintain test integrity
Pear Assessment includes a set of anti-cheating controls that help maintain test integrity during assessments. These settings are available on the **Assign** screen under the **Anti-Cheating** tab, and allow you to randomize question order, restrict navigation, require passwords, and lock down the student's device.
## Set Up Anti-Cheating Settings
1. Open the assignment and click the **Anti-Cheating** tab.
2. Enable or configure the options described below.
## Anti-Cheating Options
The following options are available on the **Anti-Cheating** tab:
* **Shuffle Items**: Randomizes the order of questions so each student receives a different sequence.
* **Shuffle Answer Choice**: Randomly reorders answer choices for multiple-choice and multi-select questions.
* **Require Password**: Requires students to enter a password before opening the assessment.
* **Complete Test in One Sitting**: Prevents students from exiting the test without submitting. If a student closes the app, their test is paused and the instructor must manually resume it from the Live Class Board.
* **Restrict Question Navigation**: Prevents students from navigating back to questions they have already answered. GoGuardian recommends using this setting alongside **Shuffle Items** to reduce the opportunity for students to share answers. This setting does not apply to SnapQuiz or VideoQuiz.
* **Require Safe Exam Browser (SEB)/Kiosk Mode**: Locks down the student's device for a secure testing environment. SEB must be installed on Windows, Mac, or iPad devices. On Chromebooks, the Pear Assessment Kiosk app must be installed. The quit password allows a teacher or proctor to exit SEB during an assessment: do not share it with students. The quit password cannot be used to exit Kiosk Mode.
* **Restrict Navigation Out of Test**: Requires students to take the test in fullscreen mode and prevents them from opening another browser window. An alert appears if a student navigates away for more than 5 seconds. If the student exceeds the designated number of alerts, their assignment is paused and the instructor must manually resume it. This setting is not compatible with iPads.
