# Use Clever Sync with Pear Assessment

> Sync rosters automatically by integrating Clever as your district's source of truth for student and teacher data, including which environments are a good fit.

Pear Assessment supports Clever integration when your environment has a district-wide implementation of Pear Assessment, rostering is up-to-date, Clever is used with other EdTech apps, or the district has a high churn-rate of students.

## Use Clever Sync with Pear Assessment

Pear Assessment supports integration with Clever, a major student information system (SIS) commonly used by districts and schools nationwide. It's recommended to integrate Clever when one or more of the below applies to your environment. If the environment doesn't meet the conditions below, please consider integrating Google Classroom.

* District-wide implementation of Pear Assessment
* District SIS has the correct roster information
* District or school is using Clever with other EdTech apps
* District has high churn of students

When integrated, Clever frees teachers from adding and deleting student accounts. If students enroll or move on, the data is updated in Pear Assessment automatically. Pear Assessment also treats Clever data as the source of truth, meaning it trusts that Clever has the correct teacher and user data syncing.

Please note the following restrictions for teachers when Clever is integrated with Pear Assessment, which are implemented because Pear Assessment expects the above information to come from Clever:

* Allowed
  * Manually create classes in Pear Assessment > Manage Class
  * Enroll existing student accounts into the manually created class
* Not allowed
  * Create new student accounts
  * Enroll a student in a Clever synced class
  * Remove a student from a Clever synced class
