# Technical Requirements

> Review the devices, browsers, network domains, and account settings required to run Pear Deck at your school

Pear Deck works automatically in most school environments. If you or your students encounter issues, use this article to confirm that your devices, browsers, account settings, and network are configured correctly.

## Supported Devices

* Chromebooks, laptops, and desktops, including Mac, PC, and Linux
* Android devices, including phones and tablets
* iPhones and iPads

<Note>
  Google Slides Add-ons, including Pear Deck, are only [supported on computers](https://support.google.com/docs/answer/2942256). You cannot edit Pear Deck slides on an iPhone, iPad, or other mobile device. However, you can start a Pear Deck session from [Pear Deck Home](https://app.peardeck.com/home/), and students can join sessions and complete all interactivity on mobile devices.
</Note>

## Supported Browsers

* The latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari are actively supported.
* Internet Explorer is not supported.

## Account Requirements

**Teachers and presenters**

* Teachers must [create a Pear Deck account](/products/pear-deck/create-account) using Microsoft Office 365 or Google sign-in credentials. Personal or organizational accounts are both accepted.
* Schools using Google Workspace for Education or Microsoft 365 Education can install Pear Deck for all users. See [Allow or Install Pear Deck in Google Workspace](/products/pear-deck/install-allow-google-workspace) or the [PowerPoint Online Add-in Administrator Installation Guide](/products/pear-deck/powerpoint-online-admin-installation-guide).
* After creating an account, install the [PowerPoint Online Add-in](/products/pear-deck/get-pear-deck-for-powerpoint-online) or the [Google Slides Add-on](https://www.peardeck.com/googleslides) to build and present Pear Deck lessons.

**Students and participants**

* Students do not need to create a Pear Deck account.
* Presenters can require participants to join with a Google or Microsoft Office 365 email address, or allow them to join anonymously.
* When students join with an account, their email addresses are saved to identify names and store responses in the presenter's Pear Deck account. See the [Pear Deck Privacy Policy](https://www.peardeck.com/privacy) for details.
* To avoid collecting any identifying information, allow students to [join sessions anonymously](https://help.peardeck.com/how-students-join-a-pear-deck-session).

## Permissions

When teachers create a Pear Deck account, they are prompted to grant the following permissions. These are required to create, save, and share Pear Deck files. See [Why Pear Deck Needs Access to Your Files](/products/pear-deck/why-pear-deck-needs-file-access) for a full explanation.

Whether you sign in with Google Drive or OneDrive, Pear Deck requires permission to:

* View your files
* View your presentations
* View and manage files and folders created or opened with the Pear Deck app
* Add Pear Deck to your Google Drive or OneDrive

Students who are required to join with a Google or Microsoft Office 365 account share their email addresses so Pear Deck can identify their names and save their responses. If you prefer not to collect any participant information, allow anonymous session joins.

## Cookies

Pear Deck uses third-party services that require cookies. Allow cookies from the following domains:

* `*.peardeck.com`
* `*.google.com`
* `*.youtube.com`

See [Allow Cookies for Pear Deck](/products/pear-deck/allow-cookies) for instructions on enabling cookies in your browser or device settings.

## Network Infrastructure and Firewalls

Pear Deck requires a stable Wi-Fi connection on all devices. If connectivity problems persist, your IT administrator should allow the domains listed below on the school's firewall.

Run the [Pear Deck Network Test](https://app.peardeck.com/networktest) to check whether any required domain is blocked on your network. Some domains require a wildcard (`*`) prefix.

| Domain to allow                                                                | Purpose                                                                  |
