# Start Live Practice

> You can start a Live Practice in My Library > click on a Practice Set's name > Start Live Practice.

## Start Live Practice

You can start a Live Practice in **My Library** > click on a Practice Set's name > **Start Live Practice**. Practices foster fun and collaboration among students via interactive and gamified learning. Students spin the big board to earn XP and celebrate their wins together.

Live Practice is a gamified learning feature that engages students in critical thinking and collaboration. Each practice has a round of questions selected by you that students answer with their teammates. When students answer the questions correctly, they earn rewards and care packages. If they're in groups, the groups earn bragging rights at the end of the practice.

From a teacher's perspective, the keys to successful learning rounds consist of collaboration, feedback, and game flow. Start Live Practice from a Practice Set in My Library or Explore.

## Prepare Practice

## Run Practice

The key to running a successful practice is fostering a fun environment and managing the game flow. Part of the experience is the Pear Practice soundtrack, which includes unique tracks crafted by the Pear Practice team. Hype the class by raising the volume from the hamburger menu > **Adjust Volume**.

We recommend engaging the class by sharing helpful hints and discussing the practice items. You can click on the prompt to enlarge it and the speaker button to read the prompt aloud.

Teams can also communicate internally by reacting with native stickers by clicking on the question mark-exclamation point button and then a sticker. Their sticker shows in the lower-left corner of the screen to their teammates.

If your class needs additional time to work together toward solutions, add 30 seconds at a time by clicking on the timer at the top of the screen. The maximum time limit is 5 minutes when teachers manually add time.

If the class needs less than the allotted time, close the practice item by clicking **End Early**.

After the practice item round ends, review the correct answer with the class and click **Place Tokens** to move on to the Big Board.

When placing tokens, the students click and hold the token to move it onto the board. Their goal is to place the token on an empty spot on the board to increase their chances of earning XP.

If they need help with placing tokens, click **Place and Move On**. You may also help students with spinning the wheel by clicking **Stop Spin**.

Following the token placement, you'll check in with the scoreboard to see which team has the most points. This incentivizes students to collaborate more en route to solutions and leapfrog the board's leader when final scores are posted at the game's end, where they level up, earn XP, and receive a bus ticket to spend on the Season Map.
