# Troubleshoot Pear Start Exports

> Fix errors when exporting Pear Start content to Pear Deck, Google Slides, Google Docs, or Google Forms.

Pear Start lets you export generated content to Pear Deck, Google Slides, Google Docs, and Google Forms. When an export fails, the cause is usually a blocked popup, a Google authorization issue, or a content type that the destination does not support. Use the sections below to identify and fix the specific failure.

## If the Create or Transform Button Does Nothing

The Create and Transform buttons open a new browser tab or popup to start the export. If nothing happens after you click, your browser is most likely blocking that popup.

1. In your browser's address bar, look for a blocked-popup icon (usually a small window icon with an X).
2. Click the icon and select **Always Allow Popups from start.peardeck.com**.
3. Reload the page and click **Create** or **Transform** again.

If allowing popups does not resolve the issue, try a different browser. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari are all supported for Pear Start. Firefox may block popups even after you update your settings.

<Note>
If you are on a school-managed device, your IT admin may have set browser policies that block popups from specific sites. Contact your IT admin and ask them to allow popups from start.peardeck.com.
</Note>

## If the Export to Pear Deck Fails

Pear Deck exports require an active connection to your Google account. If the export fails or stalls, a Google authorization issue is usually the cause.

1. In Pear Start, click your profile icon and select **Sign Out**.
2. Sign back in with the Google account you use for Pear Deck.
3. When prompted, click **Allow** to authorize Pear Start to access your Google account.
4. Return to the content you want to export and click **Create** or **Transform**.

If the export still fails, confirm that you are signed in to Pear Deck with the same Google account you use for Pear Start. An account mismatch will prevent the export from completing.

## If the Export to Google Slides Fails

Google Slides exports require access to Google Drive. If the export fails, check your Google Drive permissions before re-authorizing.

1. Go to [myaccount.google.com/permissions](https://myaccount.google.com/permissions) and confirm that Pear Start has access to Google Drive.
2. If Pear Start does not appear in your permissions, or if it appears with limited access, click **Remove Access**. You will re-authorize access in the next steps.
3. In Pear Start, click your profile icon and select **Sign Out**.
4. Sign back in and, when prompted, click **Allow** to restore Google Drive access.
5. Return to your content and retry the export.

If your school uses Google Workspace, your IT admin may have restricted which third-party apps can access Google Drive. Ask your IT admin to confirm that Pear Start is approved in your Google Workspace domain.

## If the Export to Google Docs or Google Forms Fails

**If the export produces no output or stalls:** Google Docs and Google Forms exports follow the same authorization pattern as Google Slides exports. Re-authorize your Google account using the steps in [If the Export to Google Slides Fails](#if-the-export-to-google-slides-fails).

**If math formulas appear as raw code in Google Docs:** Pear Start exports math formulas in LaTeX or Plain Text format. Google Docs does not natively render advanced LaTeX formulas. If your exported document shows unrendered formula code, install an administrator-approved Google Docs add-on for LaTeX rendering. See [Export Math Formulas to Google Docs](/products/pear-start/export-math-formulas-to-google-docs) for format options and a recommended add-on.

## Unsupported Content for Export

Not all Pear Start content types can be exported to every destination. The table shows what each destination supports.

| Content type | Pear Deck | Google Slides | Google Docs | Google Forms |
| ------------------- | --------- | ------------- | ------------------------ | ------------ |
| Lesson slides | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Practice problems | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Math formulas | Yes | Yes | LaTeX or Plain Text only | No |
| Image-heavy content | Yes | Yes | Limited | No |

If your content includes a type that the destination does not support, Pear Start may export a partial result or produce no output. In that case, export to a supported destination, or copy the unsupported content manually into the destination after export.

## Retry Steps

If none of the destination-specific steps resolve the issue, work through this sequence before contacting support.

1. Sign out of Pear Start.
2. Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
3. Sign back in to Pear Start.
4. Go to [myaccount.google.com/permissions](https://myaccount.google.com/permissions) and remove Pear Start's access.
5. Return to Pear Start and, when prompted, click **Allow** to re-authorize your Google account.

Retry the export. If it succeeds, you can continue working in the exported file. If the export continues to fail, contact Pear Deck Learning support and include the content type, the destination, and a description of what happens when you attempt the export.
