GoGuardian Beacon reviews student activity on school-issued devices and generates alerts when its machine-learning (ML) models detect signals of suicide risk, self-harm, or potential harm to others.

Understand GoGuardian Beacon

Beacon is a multi-class classifier ML model trained to identify online behaviors that may indicate suicide or self-harm. It analyzes browsing across student content — including search engines, social media, email, and web apps — to provide a holistic view of a student’s online activity. Beacon can also alert staff to potential student safety threats or violence based on search content. Schools can tailor Beacon to complement their existing suicide prevention protocol. School staff — including counselors, administrators, and other key stakeholders — can be notified and empowered with information to connect students who may be at risk with appropriate support as quickly as possible.
Beacon is one part of a broader student safety plan. Designated school staff are always the ultimate decision-makers as to whether a Beacon-generated alert requires human intervention.
