Error When Generating a Practice Set from a PDF
Pear Practice can generate a practice set from a PDF using the Instant Pear Practice feature. Common errors during PDF generation:
“File could not be processed” or no questions generated:
- Confirm the PDF is text-based, not a scanned image. Scanned PDF images cannot be read by the generator. If your PDF is a scan, use OCR software to convert it to a text-based PDF first, then retry.
- Check the file size. PDFs larger than 10 MB may not process correctly. Split large PDFs into smaller files and generate separate practice sets for each.
- Remove password protection from the PDF before uploading. Password-protected files cannot be read.
- Confirm the PDF contains questions in a recognizable format. Blank pages, charts-only pages, or PDFs with only images of text do not generate usable questions.
Questions were generated but are incomplete or incorrect:
Pear Practice generates questions from the structure and text it detects in the PDF. Review every generated question before assigning the practice set. Edit questions that are incomplete, add missing answer choices, and remove any questions that did not generate correctly.
Error When Creating a Practice Set Manually
Questions are not saving:
- Confirm you are connected to the internet. Pear Practice requires a stable connection to save question content.
- Try a different browser. Chrome is recommended. If the issue occurs only in one browser, clearing the browser cache often resolves it.
- Check whether the error is specific to one question type. If a particular question type (for example, diagram questions or draw questions) consistently fails, try creating a different question type to confirm whether the issue is question-type-specific.
Images or media are not uploading:
- Confirm the image file is a supported format: JPG, PNG, or GIF.
- Check the file size. Images larger than 5 MB may not upload.
- Try uploading from a different device or browser.
Practice Set Is Not Appearing in My Library After Creation
- Refresh the My Library page. Newly created practice sets can take a few seconds to appear.
- Check the All Sets filter. If My Library is filtered to show only sets from a specific folder, newly created sets that were not assigned to that folder will not appear. Click All Sets to see everything.
- Confirm you saved the practice set before navigating away. If you closed the editor without saving, the set was not created.
Practice Set Created from Explore Is Not in My Library
When you copy a practice set from the Explore library, the copy is saved to My Library automatically. If the copy does not appear:
- Check My Library and confirm you are viewing All Sets, not a specific folder.
- Confirm the copy action completed. If you clicked Copy but navigated away immediately, the copy may not have finished. Return to Explore, find the set, and copy it again.
