You can run the Projector View and the Teacher Dashboard at the same time during a Pear Deck session. The Projector View is the full-screen, student-facing display. The Teacher Dashboard shows student names and responses privately. Both views stay in sync — when you advance a slide on the Projector View, the Dashboard updates automatically. The Teacher Dashboard is a Premium feature.

Understand the Two Views

The two views are always in sync. Advancing a slide from either view advances both. Scrolling or browsing in the Dashboard does not affect what students see on the Projector View — only clicking a navigation control changes slides for students.

Open Both Views Simultaneously

  1. Open your presentation in Google Slides or PowerPoint Online and launch the Pear Deck sidebar.
  2. Click Start Lesson and select Instructor-Paced mode.
  3. The Projector View opens with join instructions. Share this screen with students — either by connecting to a classroom projector or sharing your screen in a video call.
  4. Click Open Teacher Dashboard. The Dashboard opens in a new browser tab.
  5. Move the Dashboard tab to a separate browser window by dragging it out of the tab bar.
  6. Verify the result: The Projector View and the Teacher Dashboard are open in separate windows. Student join instructions appear on the Projector View, and the Dashboard is ready to show responses as students join.
To keep your Dashboard private, display the Projector View on a projector or second monitor while keeping the Dashboard on your primary screen. Students only see the Projector View.

Use a Dual-Monitor Setup

A second screen is the most effective way to use both views simultaneously in a classroom.
  1. Connect your computer to a projector or second display.
  2. On your primary monitor, open the Teacher Dashboard.
  3. Move the Projector View window to the second monitor or projector.
  4. Set the Projector View to full-screen by pressing F11 (Windows) or using the browser’s full-screen option.
  5. Verify the result: Students see the Projector View on the external display while you manage the session from the Dashboard on your primary screen.
If a second screen is not available, you can use the two views in separate browser windows on the same screen, switching between them as needed. The two views share navigation controls. You can advance slides from either the Projector View or the Dashboard.
  • From the Dashboard: Use the slide arrows in the navigation bar to move forward and backward. The Projector View advances for students simultaneously.
  • From the Projector View: Hover over the bottom of the screen to open the Navigation Bar and use the slide arrows.
  • Scrolling in the Dashboard does not advance slides. Only clicking a navigation arrow changes the current slide for students.
