Review What Is Supported on macOS
The GoGuardian App on macOS delivers the same Admin filtering and Beacon coverage as on other platforms:- GoGuardian Admin filtering — the app locally proxies internet traffic using SSL decryption and applies GoGuardian Admin policy rules across all browsers
- GoGuardian Beacon — student safety reviewing runs in the background, generating alerts when content signals are detected
Know Unsupported Features on macOS
GoGuardian Teacher is not yet available on macOS. Classroom management features — including session start, screen viewing, Teacher commands, and Teacher Chat — are not supported. Students on Mac devices do not appear in GoGuardian Teacher sessions. Screenshots of student activity are also not supported on macOS. Administrators can review browsing activity in GoGuardian Admin reports, but no live screen capture is available. If your school uses GoGuardian Teacher and your students are on Mac devices, contact GoGuardian support for guidance on your deployment options.Allow Network Extension During Deployment
When The GoGuardian App is first installed on a Mac, macOS may prompt the user or IT administrator to allow a network extension. This permission is required for GoGuardian’s local proxy to filter internet traffic. For MDM-managed devices, your MDM can pre-configure the network extension approval so that no user interaction is required during deployment.Understand Hostname Exception Behavior
Hostname, application, IP, and Windows application exceptions are configured in Org Management and apply to macOS deployments as well. When a domain is added as a hostname exception, GoGuardian does not filter web traffic to that domain on Mac devices. See Add Exceptions in Organization Management for instructions.Resources
