Assessments in Pear Assessment can be assigned by an administrator or shared with teachers, who then assign them to classes. Each method offers distinct advantages depending on how your school or district manages testing.

Admin-Assigned Assessments

Admin-assigned assessments give administrators direct control over how and when assessments are distributed across classes.
  • Assign to classes in bulk.
  • Eliminate accidental assigning or duplicating of questions used on shared teacher tests.
  • Create specific times when the assessments can be opened or closed.
  • Lock the assessment settings.
Use the teacher-assigned method if you plan to give unique tests or test settings per student within the same class (extended time, calculator, shuffle questions, and so on).

Teacher-Assigned Assessments

Teacher-assigned assessments give individual teachers more flexibility and control over how assessments are delivered to their students.
  • Assign assessments to specific students in classes, such as students with accommodations.
  • Retain more flexibility after assigning the assessment.
  • Hide questions from teachers before grading.
  • Lock settings to require teachers to use the same settings.
Unless you are using District Custom Collections, assessments can be duplicated, resulting in data from multiple versions of assessments.
