GoGuardian Hall Pass lets you request permission to leave your current location and travel to a destination, such as the restroom, nurse’s office, or library. This article explains how to submit a pass request, what each pass status means, and what to do when a pass can’t start right away. As a student, you can:
  • Request a pass to leave your current location and go to a destination
  • Check your pass status
  • End your pass when you return, if your school allows it

Request a Pass

  1. Open Hall Pass and go to Home.
  2. Choose your destination.
  3. If prompted, confirm your origin by answering “What room are you coming from?”
  4. Answer “What room are you going to?” to confirm your destination.
  5. Answer “Are you coming right back?” to set your Travel Type:
    • Select Yes for a round-trip pass
    • Select No for a one-way pass
  6. Answer “How much time do you need?” Use the counter to set the number of minutes.
  7. Select Send Request.
  8. Verify the result: Your pass appears in your pass list with a status of Active, Waiting for Approval, or Scheduled.
After you submit, you’ll see 1 of these outcomes:
  • Waiting for Approval: A teacher or staff member needs to approve before the pass can activate
  • Scheduled: Your pass is queued to start at a future time
  • Active: Your pass is ready to use right away

Understand Your Pass Status

Waiting for Approval

Your pass is pending because a teacher or staff member needs to approve it before you can go. Wait for them to respond. You don’t need to submit another request.

Scheduled

Your pass was created successfully, but it won’t become active until the scheduled start time. What to do:
  • Keep the pass on your list and return at the scheduled time.
  • If your plans change, cancel the scheduled pass (if your school allows it) and submit a new request.

Active

You’re currently out on a pass. Follow your school’s expectations: go directly to your destination and return on time.

Overtime

You’ve been out longer than the expected duration. Return as soon as possible and end the pass if your school allows students to end their own passes.

Expired

You’ve gone past the overtime window. Return immediately. If you can’t end the pass yourself, a staff member may need to end it for you.

Ended

The pass was closed, either by you or by a staff member, when you returned.

Canceled

The pass was stopped before it activated or before you returned. If you still need to leave, submit a new request.

Declined

Your pass request was declined by a staff member. Check with your teacher if you need to try again.

End Your Pass

Some schools allow students to end their own passes. If that option is available:
  1. Open your active pass.
  2. Select End Pass.
If you don’t see an option to end a pass, your school requires a staff member to end it instead.

Common Issues

You can’t add a comment to a pass. Hall Pass only allows staff to add comments. If you need to share context with your teacher, tell them before they approve the pass. Origin and destination can’t be the same. If you select the same location for both, Hall Pass will prevent the request. Choose a different destination or origin. Your duration was shortened automatically. Your school or the destination may enforce a maximum pass duration. If the counter resets to a lower number, lower your duration to match and try again. Your scheduled pass didn’t activate. A pass can be scheduled successfully but still be blocked at its start time if it needs approval or hits a capacity limit. If it doesn’t activate, check the reason shown on the pass and wait for a staff member to resolve it. You’re linked to multiple schools. If you attend more than 1 school or site, you may need to select the correct site before you can request or view passes for that school day.
