Hall Monitor is a real-time view of all active pass movement across your site. It’s designed for hall monitors, front office staff, security personnel, and administrators who need to review pass activity and resolve in-progress passes. From Hall Monitor, staff can:
  • See who is currently out on a pass
  • Identify students who are overdue
  • Open pass details and take action on in-progress passes
  1. Open Hall Pass at hallpass.goguardian.com.
  2. In the sidebar, select Hall Monitor.

View Active Passes

Hall Monitor shows passes in these in-progress statuses: Select any pass to view its details: student name, origin, destination, start time, and expected duration.

Resolve a Pass

From a pass detail view, you can take the following actions on in-progress passes:
  • End Pass: Close the pass when the student returns
  • Cancel Pass: Stop a pass that is no longer needed.
Select the appropriate action and confirm. Note: Reject is not available from Hall Monitor. Reject applies only to passes in the Waiting for Approval state, which are handled from Home. Hall Monitor shows only Active, Overtime, and Expired passes.

Use Hall Monitor at a Kiosk Location

Some schools run Hall Pass from a shared device (“kiosk”) assigned to a specific room or office. When kiosk mode is active, Hall Monitor can show a location-scoped view of passes related to that kiosk’s location, including:
  • Passes where the kiosk location is the origin
  • Passes where the kiosk location is the destination
  • Passes that are waiting for approval at that location
If you’re responsible for a kiosk:
  1. Enable kiosk mode for the correct location at the start of the day.
  2. Disable kiosk mode when the device is no longer supervised. Disabling requires the staff PIN used to enable it.

Common Issues

Hall Monitor isn’t a setup area. It’s designed for real-time review of in-progress passes. For rules, rooms, and reports, go to the admin management areas. “Expired” doesn’t automatically end the pass. Expired means the student is overdue. It’s a status signal, not a closed state. A staff member may still need to end the pass, depending on your school’s workflow. Passes aren’t showing up in kiosk mode. If passes appear to be missing, confirm the kiosk is set to the correct room or office. Location-scoped views only show passes tied to the selected kiosk location. You manage multiple sites. If you support more than 1 school or site, confirm you’re viewing the correct site before taking action on a pass.
