Review Key Capabilities
Digital pass requests and approvals
Students submit pass requests from their device. You approve or deny with one click — no paper, no interruption to your lesson.
Auto-approve rules
Configure rules so routine passes — like a student’s first bathroom trip of the day — are approved automatically without requiring your action.
Pass limits
Set limits on how many passes a student can use per period, per day, or per location to reduce excessive hallway time.
Automatic pass pause and allow controls
Temporarily pause all new pass requests school-wide or for your class — for example, during a test or a lockdown drill.
Encounter prevention
Flag specific student combinations so the system alerts you or prevents both from being in the same location at the same time.
Kiosk mode
Set up a shared device at a hallway station where students can check in and out without a teacher needing to act.
Analytics and behavioral reporting
View trends in pass frequency, duration, and destination by student, class, location, or time period.
SIS integration
Connect to your student information system for automated roster and staff management.
PBIS and student rewards
Tie pass behavior to positive behavioral interventions and supports programs, rewarding students for responsible hallway use.
GoGuardian Teacher integration
Hall Pass connects with GoGuardian Teacher so you can manage passes without switching between apps during a session.
Understand How Hall Pass Works
When a student needs to leave the classroom, they submit a pass request from their device — selecting the destination (bathroom, nurse’s office, library, and so on) and the expected duration. You see the request on your dashboard and approve or deny it in one click. The student receives an instant notification. While the student is out, you can see their pass status at any time. Hall monitors and administrators have the same visibility from their own dashboards — showing which students are currently out, where they are headed, and how long they have been gone. When the student returns, they check back in digitally, closing the pass.Set Up Pass Rules
- Add the destinations students can request — for example, restroom, nurse, library, front office, or counselor. You can set each location as available to all students or restricted to specific groups.
- For each location, define the maximum number of passes per student per period or per day. Set a maximum pass duration so the system flags passes that run over time.
- Identify pass types that do not require manual approval. For example, you might auto-approve a student’s first restroom pass of the period or a pass to the library during a research block.
- Turn on notifications so you and hall monitors are alerted when a student’s pass exceeds the expected duration. You can set the threshold that triggers an alert.
Identify Frequent Fliers
Hall Pass tracks pass history for every student and surfaces behavioral trends in the analytics dashboard. You can view:- Which students have the highest pass frequency over a given period
- Which locations generate the longest average pass durations
- Peak times when hallway traffic is highest
- Students whose pass patterns have changed significantly
Behavioral trend data is available to teachers for their own students and to administrators for the full campus. Access is controlled by your district’s Hall Pass configuration.
Use Emergency and Evacuation Mode
During a crisis, lockdown drill, or fire evacuation, you need to know immediately which students are not in their assigned classroom. Hall Pass provides a centralized dashboard that shows:- Every student currently out on an active pass
- Each student’s stated destination
- How long each student has been out
- Which students have not checked back in
Review AI-Driven Policy Recommendations
As pass data accumulates, Hall Pass analyzes patterns across your campus and generates specific recommendations for rule adjustments. For example, the system might identify that restroom passes during third period consistently run long on Tuesdays, or that a particular hallway location correlates with a high rate of behavioral incidents. Recommendations appear in the analytics dashboard and suggest concrete rule changes — such as tightening the pass limit for a specific location or adjusting the auto-approve threshold for a period. You review and apply changes; the system does not modify rules automatically. This shifts hall pass management from reactive (responding after incidents) to proactive (adjusting policies before problems become patterns).Frequently Asked Questions
