GoGuardian Hall Pass integrates with GoGuardian Teacher so teachers can access key Hall Pass actions without leaving their classroom workflow. This article explains what the integration provides, how it works, and how to fix common access issues.
Understand What the Integration Provides
When the integration is active, teachers can:
- See whether a student currently has a Hall Pass and what its status is
- Open a focused Hall Pass window to Create pass for a selected student
- Open a focused Hall Pass window to View pass details for an in-progress pass and take action, based on their permissions
See How the Integration Works
GoGuardian Teacher requests Hall Pass context for the teacher and their selected students. Hall Pass responds with:
- Links to open the create-pass or view-pass windows
- Real-time pass status so Teacher can stay updated on changes
The pass window opens as a focused pop-up. Teachers complete the pass workflow there (selecting origin, destination, Travel Type, duration, and other fields), then return to Teacher when done.
Confirm the Integration Is Working
To confirm the integration is active:
-
Open GoGuardian Teacher and go to a class session.
-
Select a student.
-
Look for a Hall Pass affordance in the student panel, such as a pass status indicator or a link to create or view a pass.
If you see the Hall Pass affordance, the integration is working. If nothing appears, review the access issues below.
Fix Access Issues
Teacher Doesn’t Have Hall Pass Access
GoGuardian Teacher can only retrieve Hall Pass context for teachers who are mapped to a Hall Pass site with a Staff or Admin role. If a teacher isn’t mapped, Teacher can’t show Hall Pass data for them.
To fix this, update the teacher’s role mapping in Org Management. Go to the Mappings section for the relevant site and update the teacher’s OU mapping or add an individual user mapping. See Set Up Hall Pass in Org Management for full steps.
Student and Teacher Aren’t on Same Hall Pass Site
If a teacher and a student don’t share a Hall Pass site, the teacher won’t be able to create a pass for that student. Ensure both the teacher and the student are mapped to the same site in Org Management.
Hall Pass Isn’t Enabled for Org
If teachers see a “Hall Pass not enabled” error, Hall Pass may not be licensed or enabled for the organization, or the teacher is missing the site mapping required for Hall Pass authorization. Contact your GoGuardian administrator to confirm the product is enabled.
Pop-up Blockers Are Preventing Window from Opening
The integration opens Hall Pass in a new pop-up window. If teachers report that nothing happens when they select a Hall Pass action, have them allow pop-ups for GoGuardian Teacher and Hall Pass domains in their browser settings.
Student Isn’t Appearing as Eligible
Deactivated or archived students may not appear as eligible for Hall Pass actions. Confirm the student is active in the site.
