Passage-based questions in Pear Assessment can be used for all subjects that ask students to evaluate and respond to a stimulus (e.g., text, video, diagram, etc.). Please set it up in Item Bank > New Item > Passage > Passage with Questions.

Passage-based questions in Pear Assessment can be used for all subjects that ask students to evaluate and respond to a stimulus (e.g., text, video, diagram, etc.).
Create Passage-Based Questions
- Click Item Bank in the navigation menu.
- Click New Item.
- Click Passage.
- Click Passage with Questions.
- Click Add Video or Add Passage under Edit Mode.
- Fill out the required information for either option and click Save.
- Repeat step 5 to add more videos and passages (if applicable).
- Click Add First Part To This Item to add questions and resources.
- Click Publish once you have added all of the items you need.
- Once you have built the passage-based question, you can manipulate the item order, point value, add or remove items, etc. on the Review.
Note: You are not able to add pre-built questions to a passage from the Review screen. To add more questions, click on the passage title and add new questions from scratch. Last modified on July 16, 2026
