District administrators can create a new summer school year or update an existing one under the Manage District section. A new school year results in separate data in Insights for student performance, whereas updating an existing year modifies existing data.
Use Pear Assessment for Summer School
All classes in Pear Assessment are linked to a School Year (SY) based on the end date of SY. After the end date, all classes can be archived. Some districts use Pear Assessment for summer schools too, which can be set up in Pear Assessment. The following two options are available in Pear Assessment:
- Create a Summer SY
- Update the end date of the existing SY
Create Summer School Year
Please note that a summer SY will be treated as a new school year, which shows data separately in Insights and doesn’t impact student’s performance in the existing school year. The summer SY cannot overlap with another school year. It’s recommended to make sure the summer school year is defined first and classes are created on or after the start date of the summer school year.

Update End Date of Existing School Year

- Click on the pen button for the school year you want to modify.
