GoGuardian Beacon has three user account types: Super Counselor (full access), Counselor (limited read-write access), and View Only (read only). Each account type controls what actions a user can take on alerts, settings, and other users within a deployment.
Only Super Users can assign or change Beacon permission levels. Super User is the GoGuardian Admin and Org Management permission that grants access to Beacon. It is not a Beacon account type.
Beacon users have access to sensitive information pertaining to students who may be at risk for suicide or self-harm. Consult your school’s suicide prevention policy before adding users to a deployment.

Super Counselor

Super Counselors are top-level users within the context of their Beacon deployment. They have full access to all alert management features, deployment settings, and user management. Multiple Super Counselors can exist within a single Beacon deployment. A Super Counselor can modify all Beacon settings, snooze alerts, view and modify all components of Beacon alerts, receive text and email notifications, update actions taken, create notes, update risk level, view local authority and hotline information, view browsing activity, view previous actions, and provide phase categorization feedback. Super Counselors can also add or remove users within Beacon and request updates to parent or guardian contact information for individual students.

Counselor

A Counselor can view Beacon settings but cannot edit them. Counselors can view and modify all components of Beacon alerts, receive text and email notifications, update actions taken, create notes, update alert risk levels, view local authority and hotline information, view browsing activity, and view previous actions and previous alerts. Counselors can also update their personal user profile.

View Only

A user with View Only access can view Beacon settings but cannot edit them. View Only users can view all components of Beacon alerts, receive text and email notifications, update actions taken, view notes, view risk level, view local authority and hotline information, view browsing activity, view previous actions, and provide phase categorization feedback. View Only users can also update their personal user profile.
