AdDeflect is an optional add-on for GoGuardian DNS that blocks ads and pop-up ads across websites and YouTube for every device on a filtered network. Enabling AdDeflect reduces distractions and limits ad-based tracking for students. When AdDeflect is active, blocked ads are replaced with a gray overlay labeled “Advertisement” rather than disappearing entirely.
AdDeflect is a premium add-on. Contact your GoGuardian account representative to confirm it is enabled for your account before following these steps.

Enable AdDeflect for a Network

  1. Go to GoGuardian Admin and select Filtering → DNS Networks.
  2. Click the pencil icon next to the network where you want to enable AdDeflect.
  3. Find the AdDeflect toggle in the network settings and turn it on.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Verify the result: AdDeflect is active for all devices on that network. Ads from tracked ad hosts appear as gray “Advertisement” placeholders.
AdDeflect blocks ads based on a dataset of known ad-serving hosts. Pop-up ads from hosts not in the dataset may not be blocked. Ad coverage may vary by website.
