Accommodations for Students in Pear Assessment

Pear Assessment offers accommodations for students to be empowered in reaching their educational goals. Please see the list below of features that we offer that can be used to accommodate or modify tests for students.

List of Accommodations

  • Text-To-Speech: Pear Assessment offers TTS functionality that allows students to have assessment questions and instructions read aloud. This feature can benefit students with reading difficulties, visual impairments, or other disabilities.
  • Immersive Reader: Students can more easily read and process text by adjusting its appearance on the page (color, size, etc.), translating it to the language of their choice, or having it read aloud to them.
  • Extended Time: Teachers can extend the time limit for assessments for specific students, accommodating those who require additional time to complete tasks.
  • High-Contrast Themes: Pear Assessment provides high-contrast themes to improve visibility for students who may have difficulty distinguishing colors or prefer high-contrast displays.
  • Magnifying Glass: This feature allows educators to zoom in or enlarge specific parts of a question or content within an assessment, such as images, diagrams, or complex math equations that may require closer examination for better clarity.
  • Calculator: Depending on assessment settings, students may have access to an online calculator, which can be useful for math and science assessments.
  • Line Reader: The line-reader tool in Pear Assessment helps students focus on one line of text at a time, improving reading comprehension by reducing distractions and promoting a systematic approach to reading.
  • Screen Zoom: The screen zoom tool in Pear Assessment allows users to enlarge specific parts of the screen, making it easier to view and interact with content, especially useful for the visually impaired or for accessibility purposes.
  • Print and Digital Tests: Teachers can provide assessments in alternative formats (e.g., paper and pencil) to accommodate students who require non-digital options.
  • Playback Speed Adjustment: Students can adjust the Text-to-Speech speed using this setting to have it play as slow as half-speed and as fast as 2X speed.
  • Adjustable Text Size: Students can customize the text size on the platform, making it easier to read content according to their preferences and needs.
