Choose What to Ask

Questions can cover:
  • App usage and adoption
  • Screen time
  • App costs and licenses
  • Privacy and compliance information
  • Organizational units (OUs)
  • Classrooms
  • Operating systems
  • Date ranges
  • AI apps
  • Schools
For example, ask:
  • Which apps were used most often this month?
  • Which AI apps are students using?
  • Compare screen time across schools during the last 30 days.
  • Which licensed apps have the fewest active users?
  • Show app usage by OU.
  • Which apps have the highest costs?
  • How has screen time changed since the beginning of the school year?

Ask About Schools

If your organization syncs school data from Clever or ClassLink, you can ask Questions to:
  • Find a school by name or ID
  • Limit results to one or more schools
  • Group results by school
  • Compare results across all schools
If a school is missing or incorrect, update the school or roster association in Clever or ClassLink. Then sync the updated roster data in GoGuardian Org Management. Your results are limited to the OUs assigned to your Discover role.

Improve Your Results

Include these details when they apply:
  • Metric: Name unique users, screen time, cost, license utilization, or another measure.
  • Date range: Specify a period such as the last 30 days or this school year.
  • Population: Identify a school, OU, classroom, or operating system.
  • Analysis: Ask Discover to compare, group, rank, or show changes over time.
  • Complete names: Enter the full school or app name when possible.
Instead of asking, “Tell me about apps,” ask, “Show the 10 most-used apps by unique users across all schools during the last 30 days.”

Review Past Questions

Select Past Questions from the left navigation to review questions you previously asked. Question history is saved separately for each user and currently has no retention limit. From Past Questions, you can review an earlier result or run the question again. The wording of the answer may change when you rerun a question because the response is generated by AI.

Export Supported Results

Supported results can be exported as CSV files. If an export option does not appear, that result cannot be exported from Questions. You may be able to export related data elsewhere in Discover. For example, the App Catalog supports CSV export.

Resolve Common Issues

Refine an Unexpected Answer

Add the metric, date range, school, OU, classroom, or other scope you want Discover to use.

Rerun a Missing Visualization

Run the question again. If the issue continues, simplify the question or split it into separate questions.

Find a Missing School

Confirm the school and its roster associations in Clever or ClassLink. Then sync the updated roster data in GoGuardian Org Management.

Check an Answer with No Data

Confirm that:
  • The requested date range includes activity.
  • The school, OU, classroom, or operating system is available to your role.
  • The question does not contain conflicting conditions.
  • Your organization has the requested licensing, cost, or compliance information.
