GoGuardian Hall Pass sends notifications to keep staff and students informed about pass activity and site-wide safety events. This article explains the notifications you can rely on today and how to troubleshoot ones that don’t arrive.

Emergency Notifications

When an administrator or designated staff member creates an emergency, Hall Pass immediately notifies all staff and students at the site. The person creating the emergency can include an optional message for staff, which is sent along with the emergency notification. Hall Pass also transitions active passes to check-ins and blocks new passes until the emergency ends. For the full workflow, see Use Emergency Mode.

Other Pass Notifications

Beyond emergencies, Hall Pass surfaces pass status — such as when a pass needs approval or is blocked by a site rule — in the app as passes are requested and acted on. Confirm your site’s approval and rule settings if staff or students aren’t seeing the pass updates they expect.

Troubleshoot Missing Notifications

If a staff member or student isn’t receiving notifications they expect:
  1. Confirm the right account and site. Notifications follow the user’s Hall Pass role and site mapping. Confirm the user is mapped to the correct site — see Add Users to GoGuardian Hall Pass.
  2. Check browser notification permissions. If Hall Pass runs in a browser, the browser must allow notifications from the site. Check the browser’s site permissions and re-enable notifications if they were blocked.
  3. Check email delivery. If a notification is sent by email, have the recipient check spam and filtered folders, and confirm the email address on their account is correct.
  4. Confirm the event actually occurred. For emergency notifications, confirm an emergency was created and hasn’t already ended.

Contact Support

If notifications still aren’t arriving after these checks, contact GoGuardian Support with the affected user’s email, their role and site, and which notification they expected.
