Missing classes or students in Pear Assessment are almost always a rostering issue. The right fix depends on how your classes were created. Find your rostering source below.
Google Classroom
Classes are missing:
- In Pear Assessment, go to Classes and click Sync with Google Classroom.
- Confirm you are signed in to the Google account that owns the Classroom. Classes associated with a different Google account do not appear.
- Check that the class is not archived in Google Classroom. Archived classes do not sync.
Students are missing from a class:
- In the class, click Sync.
- If students are enrolled in Google Classroom but do not appear, confirm they accepted the class invitation in Google Classroom.
- Students who join Google Classroom after the initial sync do not appear automatically. Sync again to pull in new students.
Clever
Classes are missing:
Pear Assessment syncs from Clever on a schedule. After a roster change in your SIS, allow up to 24 hours for the change to propagate through Clever to Pear Assessment.
If classes are still missing after 24 hours:
- Ask your district admin to confirm the sections are active and shared with Pear Assessment in the Clever dashboard.
- Confirm the teacher’s email in Clever matches the email used to sign in to Pear Assessment. A mismatch prevents class association.
- If sections were archived and reactivated in your SIS, contact Pear Assessment support. Reactivated sections sometimes require a manual resync.
Students are missing:
- Confirm the students are actively enrolled in the section in your SIS, not just in Clever.
- If enrollment changed recently, wait for the next Clever sync cycle and check again.
- For students who appear in Clever but not in Pear Assessment, ask your district admin to check whether the student record is shared with Pear Assessment in the Clever app permissions.
ClassLink
Classes are missing:
ClassLink uses OneRoster to provision classes to Pear Assessment. If classes do not appear:
- Ask your IT admin to confirm the OneRoster sync is active and that Pear Assessment is included in the ClassLink app roster.
- Confirm the teacher’s email in ClassLink matches the sign-in email for Pear Assessment.
- Check whether the class source ID changed in your SIS. A changed source ID creates a new class record in Pear Assessment rather than updating the existing one.
Source ID changes: If your district updated student IDs or section IDs in your SIS, contact Pear Assessment support before syncing. Syncing with changed source IDs without preparation can create duplicate records.
Canvas
Classes are missing:
Canvas classes appear in Pear Assessment only when the Pear Assessment Canvas integration is installed and the teacher uses it to create assignments.
- Confirm the Pear Assessment LTI tool is installed in the Canvas course.
- Open the Canvas course, open the Pear Assessment tool, and sign in. Canvas courses are not pushed to Pear Assessment automatically — they appear when the integration is accessed from within Canvas.
Students are missing:
Students are rostered from Canvas at the time an assignment is created through the integration. If students enrolled in Canvas after the Pear Assessment assignment was created, they do not appear automatically. Create a new assignment or contact support for a manual roster update.
Manual Class Codes
If your classes were created manually using class codes:
- Confirm students are using the correct class code. Codes are case-sensitive.
- In the class, go to Students and check whether students appear as Pending. Students who entered the class code but have not been approved appear as Pending until the teacher approves them.
- If a student does not appear at all, they may have used a different email address. Ask them to sign in with the email associated with their account and rejoin using the class code.
If classes or students are still missing after following the steps for your rostering source, contact Pear Assessment support. Include your rostering method, the class name, and the specific symptom. For Clever and ClassLink issues, your district admin may also need to open a support case. Last modified on July 16, 2026
