Use this article when ClassLink classes are not appearing, are incomplete, or are not behaving as expected in GoGuardian Teacher. When ClassLink is integrated with your organization, classes sync automatically into Teacher on a nightly schedule and appear in the Pending section for the primary teacher to accept. For sync errors visible in Org Management (such as email mismatches or classroom record failures), see Troubleshoot Clever and ClassLink Sync Errors. Common issues:

Class Does Not Appear in Teacher at All

Cause: The class may not have synced yet, or there may be an email mismatch between the teacher’s record in ClassLink and their GoGuardian Teacher account.
  1. Go to teacher.goguardian.com/classrooms/pending and check whether the class appears in the Pending section.
  2. If the class is not in Pending, confirm that the nightly sync has run since the class was created or updated in ClassLink. If the class was added recently, it will appear after the next nightly sync. To sync immediately, ask your IT administrator to run Sync Now at manage.goguardian.com/integrations.
  3. Confirm that the email address on your GoGuardian Teacher account matches the email address on your teacher record in ClassLink exactly, including capitalization. A mismatch prevents the class from being associated with your account.
  4. If the email addresses do not match, ask your IT administrator to correct the teacher record in ClassLink and run Sync Now.
  5. Verify the result: The class appears in the Pending section of GoGuardian Teacher.

Class Is in Pending but Was Not Accepted

Cause: ClassLink classes appear in Pending until the primary teacher accepts them. A class will not move to Active, and co-teachers will not see it, until the primary teacher accepts it. If a teacher declined the class by mistake, it moves to Archived rather than disappearing.
  1. Go to teacher.goguardian.com/classrooms/pending.
  2. Locate the class and click View Details to confirm the class name, owner, and enrolled students.
  3. Click Accept to move the class to the Active section.
  4. Verify the result: The class appears on the Active classrooms page and is available to start a session.

Class Disappeared from Active

Cause: A teacher may have archived the class, which removes it from Active and places it in the Archived section. Archived classes can be restored without data loss.
  1. Go to teacher.goguardian.com/classrooms/archived.
  2. Locate the class in the Archived list.
  3. Click Restore Class to return the class to Active.
  4. Verify the result: The class appears on the Active classrooms page.
If a teacher clicks Decline on a Pending class, it also moves to Archived. Restoring it from Archived moves it back to Active without requiring the teacher to go through Pending again.

Students Are Missing from a Class

Cause: Roster changes made in ClassLink do not appear in GoGuardian Teacher until the next nightly sync. Students added or removed in ClassLink after the last sync will not be reflected until the sync runs again.
  1. Confirm that the roster change was saved correctly in ClassLink before checking GoGuardian Teacher.
  2. In GoGuardian Teacher, go to the class and select the Students tab. Compare the roster against the current ClassLink roster to identify which students are missing.
  3. If the change is urgent, ask your IT administrator to run Sync Now at manage.goguardian.com/integrations to pull the updated roster immediately.
  4. After the sync runs, return to the class in GoGuardian Teacher and refresh the Students tab.
  5. Verify the result: The Students tab reflects the current roster from ClassLink.
GoGuardian Teacher classes have a maximum of 115 students. If a ClassLink class exceeds this limit, the class will not sync. To resolve this, split the class into smaller sections in ClassLink, each with 115 students or fewer.

Class Name Did Not Update

Cause: Class names for ClassLink-integrated classes come directly from ClassLink. They cannot be changed in GoGuardian Teacher. If a class name was updated in ClassLink but has not yet changed in Teacher, the nightly sync has not run since the update was made.
  1. Confirm that the class name change was saved in ClassLink.
  2. If the change is urgent, ask your IT administrator to run Sync Now at manage.goguardian.com/integrations.
  3. After the sync runs, return to the class in GoGuardian Teacher and confirm the updated name appears.
  4. Verify the result: The class name in GoGuardian Teacher matches the name in ClassLink.
While the class name cannot be changed in Teacher, you can add or update the class Description to help distinguish similar classes. Go to the class, select the settings cogwheel, choose Edit Class, update the Description field, and click Update Classroom.

Co-Teachers Are Not Appearing

Cause: Co-teachers rostered in ClassLink are synced to GoGuardian Teacher automatically after the primary teacher accepts the class. If co-teachers are missing, they may not yet be included in the ClassLink roster, or the sync may not have run since they were added.
  1. Confirm that the co-teacher is listed on the class in ClassLink with the correct email address.
  2. Confirm that the primary teacher has already accepted the class. Co-teachers do not see the class in Teacher until the primary teacher accepts it.
  3. Ask your IT administrator to run Sync Now at manage.goguardian.com/integrations to pull the updated roster.
  4. After the sync runs, ask the co-teacher to refresh GoGuardian Teacher and confirm the class appears in their Active classes.
  5. Verify the result: The co-teacher sees the class in their Active classrooms in GoGuardian Teacher.

Students Cannot Be Added or Removed Manually

Cause: For ClassLink-integrated classes, ClassLink is the source of truth for the roster. Teachers cannot freely add or remove students directly in GoGuardian Teacher. All roster changes must go through ClassLink.
  1. Make the necessary roster change in ClassLink (adding or removing the student from the class).
  2. If you do not have access to ClassLink, contact your IT administrator or school administrator to make the change.
  3. Ask your IT administrator to run Sync Now at manage.goguardian.com/integrations, or wait for the nightly sync to run.
  4. After the sync runs, confirm the student appears or no longer appears in the class in GoGuardian Teacher.
  5. Verify the result: The class roster in GoGuardian Teacher matches the updated roster in ClassLink.
If a student needs to join a class temporarily without a ClassLink roster change, an IT administrator can create a manual class in GoGuardian Teacher and add the student directly. Manual classes are not connected to ClassLink and do not sync.
