The GoGuardian Pear Deck Add-on for Google Slides may fail to open, appear blank, or not show up in the Add-ons menu due to blocked cookies, Google Workspace domain restrictions, or a browser that needs to be refreshed. Work through the sections below in order to identify and resolve the cause.

Check Whether Cookies Are Allowed

Pear Deck requires cookies from the following domains to load correctly:
  • *.peardeck.com
  • *.google.com
  • *.youtube.com
  • sign-in.microsoftonline.com
If any of these are blocked by a browser setting, a Chrome policy, or a network-level filter, the Add-on sidebar will fail to open or will load a blank panel.
  1. In Chrome, go to SettingsPrivacy and securityThird-party cookies.
  2. Under Allowed to use third-party cookies, add each domain listed above.
  3. Reload Google Slides and try opening the Add-on again.
For step-by-step instructions across all supported browsers, see Allowing Cookies to Make Pear Deck Work.

Confirm the Add-on Is Installed or Allowed in Your Google Domain

In Google Workspace for Education domains, Add-ons are restricted by default. If the Pear Deck Add-on does not appear in a teacher’s Add-ons menu at all, the Google Workspace Administrator must take one of the following actions before teachers can use it:
  • Install the Add-on for all users: pushes the Add-on to every account in the domain automatically.
  • Allow the Add-on in the Marketplace: lets teachers install it themselves.
If you are the administrator, see Install or Allow the Pear Deck Add-on in Your Google Domain for the full steps.
After a domain-wide installation, it can take up to 24 hours for the Add-on to appear in every user’s Google Slides menu.

Authorize the Required Client IDs

Some Google Workspace domains restrict Add-on access through client ID controls. If users see an authorization error or the Add-on opens but immediately closes, ask your Google Workspace Administrator to allow the following client IDs in the Google Admin Console: For the Pear Deck for Google Slides Add-on:
  • 363332900703-o12os0e8s969uqv0l12gn1m93qr4uonp.apps.googleusercontent.com (Slides API)
  • 363332900703-a6k2qsdjb15a6qmsmebu1c62el4tc83r.apps.googleusercontent.com (Google Workspace Marketplace listing)
For users under 18:
  • 379962065044-digedvvia3khonh0n16u1n3teq8ue9q2.apps.googleusercontent.com
  • 689742286244-g7fjuiujmclsmb3r9v5t4vdl00pgkjfd.apps.googleusercontent.com
  • 454012513681-611ndhav2juq04gk1qadsk1co4mgclkj.apps.googleusercontent.com

Reload the Add-on in the Browser

If the Add-on is installed and cookies are allowed but the sidebar still does not load, try the following in Chrome:
  1. Close all Google Slides tabs.
  2. Clear the browser cache: go to SettingsPrivacy and securityClear browsing data, select Cached images and files, and click Clear data.
  3. Reopen your Google Slides presentation.
  4. Go to ExtensionsPear Deck for Google Slides Add-onOpen Pear Deck Add-on.
Google Slides Add-ons, including Pear Deck, are only supported on computers. You cannot open the Add-on sidebar on an iPhone, iPad, or other mobile device. You can still start a Pear Deck Session from Pear Deck Home and students can join Sessions on mobile devices.

Run the Network Diagnostic Test

If the Add-on loads but behaves unexpectedly (slides are blank, responses do not appear, or the session fails to start), a firewall or network filter may be blocking a required service.
  1. Open app.peardeck.com/networktest on the affected device.
  2. Review the results. Any blocked component indicates a domain that needs to be allowed on the network firewall.
Key domains to allow: For the complete list of required domains, see Technical Requirements for Pear Deck.

Contact Support

If the Add-on still does not load after completing all steps above, contact GoGuardian Support. Include a screenshot of the full browser window (including the URL bar) so the support team can identify whether cookies are blocked or another configuration issue is present.
