Supported Devices

  • Chromebooks, laptops, and desktops, including Mac, PC, and Linux
  • Android devices, including phones and tablets
  • iPhones and iPads
Google Slides Add-ons, including Pear Deck, are only supported on computers. You cannot edit Pear Deck slides on an iPhone, iPad, or other mobile device. However, you can start a Pear Deck session from Pear Deck Home, and students can join sessions and complete all interactivity on mobile devices.

Supported Browsers

  • The latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari are actively supported.
  • Internet Explorer is not supported.

Account Requirements

Teachers and presenters Students and participants
  • Students do not need to create a Pear Deck account.
  • Presenters can require participants to join with a Google or Microsoft Office 365 email address, or allow them to join anonymously.
  • When students join with an account, their email addresses are saved to identify names and store responses in the presenter’s Pear Deck account. See the Pear Deck Privacy Policy for details.
  • To avoid collecting any identifying information, allow students to join sessions anonymously.

Permissions

When teachers create a Pear Deck account, they are prompted to grant the following permissions. These are required to create, save, and share Pear Deck files. See Why Pear Deck Needs Access to Your Files for a full explanation. Whether you sign in with Google Drive or OneDrive, Pear Deck requires permission to:
  • View your files
  • View your presentations
  • View and manage files and folders created or opened with the Pear Deck app
  • Add Pear Deck to your Google Drive or OneDrive
Students who are required to join with a Google or Microsoft Office 365 account share their email addresses so Pear Deck can identify their names and save their responses. If you prefer not to collect any participant information, allow anonymous session joins.
